This beauty was caught on Dec.17/98 on a Crystal Wooly Bugger (Size 6) at the fish farm. She weighed in at just over 11 lbs. I was using a full sink (Uniform) WF7 line and matching rod. She actually took the fly when I had cast out the line to retrieve it so I could go sit down (I was really windy and my arm was getting tired), she took the fly when I was reeling the line back onto the reel. It took about 20-25 minutes to catch this girl, and by then she was pretty much tuckered out so I had to keep her. We also caught a few more that day that were about 4.5 to 5lbs (Weighed), about 3lbs (estimated), and of course what would of been the big fish of the day (my life) that ended up breaking my line, a clip that "was" attached to fishing vest and my heart. We estimated the weight of that one at about 16 lbs. or so, there were three of us that got a good look at it before he broke off. It was a lot of fun and over all a very successful day. |

The details are a little foggy on this one. It was caught in late may near the fish farm. I was using a full sink, weight forward, 7-weight line. The fly was a "Carey Special" size 4. It took about 15 minutes to catch this guy, and then after we wee sure he was ready we released him to fight another day. |

This guy was caught at the Fish Farm on Diefenbaker in May of 98. I was using my 4pc 6/7wt.rod with a Lee Wulff Triangle Taper Clearwater line that has a sink rate of about 1 1/2"-2 IPS. The fly I was using was a size 4 woolly bugger. Air temp was around 25C and the water was 7-10C. The fish was released successfully although it took almost 25 minutes to land. |

Madge Lake Prov. park on June 6th.1998. It was an 8 lb. Rainbow. I was using a 6/7 wt. rod, Lee Wulff Triangle Taper Clearwater line and a black woolly bugger. The fish was a consolation reward for me after I just lost an even bigger one 20 minutes before. His reward was to swim away to be caught another day. |
